The Challenge

So I was inspired by the movie "Julie and Julia" and will now try to blog at least once a day. But, I don't have a particular subject to blog about like Julie did. This will be more of a discipline thing to see if I can actually stick with this for a whole year.

I just got back from Las Vegas. It was my first time there and it was a fun trip. I went with my Aunty Marsha (who paid my way, thank you Aunty!) my cousin Michael, Aunty Joy and Uncle Alan. The highlight of the trip was going to the CES conference. That was an amazing and fun experience! We arrived in time for the last two days of the conference. Our first day there, my Uncle Alan and Michael went with me. We just came off the red-eye flight from Oahu and were running on less than an hour of sleep each. Nevertheless, we did and saw a lot! There were over 20,000 exhibitors showcasing everything from massage chairs to the latest 3D televisions. We were there for about 7 hours and couldn't even get through half of the showings because the convention center was so huge! Needless to say, my legs were aching the next day. But, my cousin and I persisted in seeing as much as we could one the last day of the conference. We got there pretty late that day and only had about 3 hours to look around. We just barely made it through one wing and had to forgo the last wing for lack of time. With just about 15min remaining, Michael and I decided to rush across the convention center to buy some strap thingies that my aunty Joy and I wanted. It was a heart-pumping adventure as vendors were already closing up shop. When we finally got to the right wing, we split up to look for the booth. Everything looked the same now because most of the vendors had already taken down their signs and products but Michael found the booth just as they were boxing up their wares. We were on our cell phones and he guided me to the right booth. I think the vendors were a little surprised by our last minute order of 13 straps! Perhaps they were also a bit relieved to not have to take them back home. The highlight of the conference for Michael was, I think, getting to take a picture with Slay3r, Ciji. A top ranked video gamer. He later told me that he only found out about her a few days before we left for Vegas. What a coincidence! A very neat experience, all in all.

Some of the other things I got to see on this trip:
The Bellagio - Chinese garden, glass umbrella ceiling and horse statue. In front of the Bellagio, I watched the backside of the Fountain show. "Proud To Be An American" played that night.
Cesar's Palace - The Greek robot show
Planet Hollywood - Breakfast buffet, Todai's dinner buffet, rain show and laser show
Treasure Island - Pirate show, NOT for kids! Kinda cheesy.
Hash House A Go Go brunch - Hash House NO Go go, Hash House A No No! Walking back from HH, Aunty Joy took a pic with Zorro. *Tip: don't talk to strange Zorros in the street. They just want your money.
Manadaly Bay - Lion King The Musical
Palazzo - Stayed there our last night. Went to Grand Lux for breakfast.
Venetian - saw the gondola ride ($18 a head... we passed) ate 2nd dinner at the Grand Lux there the night before. There's a lot of young plp out at 3 in the morning!

Downtown:
The Freemont Experience, a saxophone guy
Freemont - (where Grandma liked to go) and the Golden Nugget as well. The California was downtown.
Went shopping for beef jerky and cinnamon bagel toast at Karen's, also went to Trader Joe's.
Main Street - dinner buffet

Wow! We sure did a lot in three days! Got home and was officially pooped! I needed a vacation from my vacation. Now everything's back to normal and I'm ready to go somewhere else.
