Tonight was the opening of the Vision Conference. I didn't get to hear Dr. Marocco's sermon. It was a bummer. The little I did hear sounded good. So, now I'm sitting at home watching Monk and totally hooked on Mafia Wars! Ack! This is so bad. I have to wake up early tomorrow and be at church all day. I hope I have energy.
So, there's been some opportunities for me to create websites. The only thing is, I don't know much about it. In fact, my only experience with web design is a limited working knowledge of Dreamweaver. I hate Dreamweaver! So, for the past week I've been reading about different kinds of programs, namely Wordpress and Drupal. Wordpress is all about blogging. The information that I read on it gave me a greater understanding of what blogging is about and the different functions that are offered. It doesn't seem like this Google blog is able to do as much as Wordpress so I may be moving to that soon. Drupal seems like the key for what our online church website needs. I'm pretty excited to be able to have a hand in that, if I'm not too late! I still have more to learn about web design. I'd like to learn XHTML, and find out what Ruby on Rails, MySQL, PHP and Joomla are about. I think the deeper I dig, the more I'll find how much more there is to learn about web design. I don't even know Fireworks and Flash yet. Although, just last night, I read (on Wired.com) that Flash may be going out of style since it takes a lot of energy, time and data to load and use and many platforms don't support it. I guess only time will tell if this is the case or not.
